What is your typical day when volunteering? I have two roles with CIM, one is as creator of WIM events/WIM awards, the other is Chair of the CIMCOM MIG, so depending on the time of year, my day is spent e-mailing or meeting contacts/potential speakers for either WIM events or CIMCOM events, researching potential venues, liaising with other WIM or CIMCOM team YORU CMMOU NITY NEWS SPOT LIGHT ON members or with CIM Greater London (GLR) regional director, Philip Preston. Have you got any tips for being a successful volunteer? Find your passion. Be committed. Deliver. Has volunteering enhanced your outlook on life? It most definitely has. I have met amazing individuals at Moor Hall, especially when working with the research team on a WIM white paper*. Being part of the GLR board via WIM and being Chair of CIMCOM have definitely helped my personal development and enhanced my skill set. *More information to follow. What is your experience of CIM? As a proactive and engaged member of CIM, I have had an amazing experience of connecting with key individuals at Moor Hall and at branch level. Are there any member benefits that you have found particularly useful? I have found the library facilities especially useful. Are there any changes or improvements you would like to see? There are a few changes that I would like to consider. I think that CIM needs to embrace change, engage more, be more flexible and learn to share in an increasingly “social” age. I would also like to see CIM improve and use its main website as the key platform to engage with the outside world. If you could change one thing about CIM, what would it be? Be more innovative in all areas! We’d love to hear your story too, whether you’re based in the UK or overseas. Please send your story to ccn@cim.co.uk Women In Marketing awards 2012 Find your passion. Be committed. Deliver.
